My Reading Journal

Hi, guys welcome back to another blog post. These are just some of the read summaries that I have written from the past couple of weeks. I might have missed some summaries but this is just what I have for you guys for now. Thank you for reading my blog post.

My Reading Journal : 11/2/20: Author David Williams :

Summary

At the beginning of the story, it started with a boy called Ben Complaining about and refusing to go to his grandmother's house. Ben and his family were on the way to his grandmother's house and he had complained and talked bad about his grandmother the whole way. Poor Ben didn’t like going to his grandma's house because he thinks that it's BORING there and her T.V doesn't even work. Ben was the only grandchild and he was one of the only people who visited his grandma. Ben's parents have their date nights every Friday and they were obsessed with watching Strictly stars Dancing live on stage. The part I had last read was Ben being at his Grandma’s house and eating Cabbage soup which was a usual routine for him.

2 interesting words I found

  1. Slumped

  2. Crestfallen

 12/2/20:

Summary:

Ben had stepped away from the table for a few minutes while his grandma went to the kitchen to grab something. Ben had tried to find a way to get rid of the cabbage soup because it was just too much for him, he had to tiptoe around without knocking the books over that were spread all over the floor. He found a pot in the corner of the room and had decided to tip the soup in the pot. Footsteps stepped into the dining room and he ran to the table as fast as he could. It was the next Friday and Ben was explaining how much he wanted to be a plumber, but his parents didn’t want him to be a plumber, they wanted him to be rich and famous, but the thoughts of him being a plumber gave him an even lower chance of being rich and famous. A couple streets away there was a little dairy that people from miles away would still come because the shopkeeper made everyone smile. He had a lot of deals but they were sort of a rip-off, like for example, buy 24 and get 1 free.

1/3/21

Summary.

After Ben was getting some offers from the shopkeeper, He kept complaining about how fast the week was going and how much he doesn’t wanna go to his grandma's house. “ All we ever do is eat things that have to include CABBAGE, cabbage soup, cabbage pie, Cabbage everything, and it gets worse, she found cabbage flavored chocolate for us to eat after dinner,” Ben said. The shopkeeper listened and told him not to take his grandma for granted And that it takes time to get along with people.” look just cause your grandma is old doesn't mean she's boring”.

2/3/21

Summary

It was another boring friday where Ben had to go to his grandmas again. They and dinner and by the time they were done Ben was told to go to sleep. “ But usually I go to bed at 9pm its only 8pm,” said Ben. ‘ No no little one its time for bed, go brush your teeth and then granny will come and read you a bedtime story. Ben walked to the old and dusty bathroom where he found a single lonely towel and a bar of soap. “ Look for those of you that dont wanna brush your teeth don't, just pretend to. So first you turn off the tap, put a bite of toothpaste on your hand and then put water in your mouth and trace the water and toothpaste around your mouth, then spit it out, and lastly turn off the tap”.  BOOM

 Summary 8/3/21

It was time for Ben to go to sleep and his grandma had quickly but slowly crept into the little damp room and said, Ben quickly closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, “ Ohh I was going to read you a story but you are already asleep. Ben had gotten out of bed and tried and ring his parents to get them to come and pick him up but without a surprise they said no. Ben thought he had sawn a shadow behind him but then it had disappeared, “  I hope that was granny, I hope she didn’t hear what I said.

Summary 9/3/21

It was morning time and granny wasn’t acting normal she was more quiet then usually,” what if she heard what I said. Said Ben. “ Here is your breakfast” Said granny,” your parents are about to come and pick you up”. “Ok,”  said Ben. Broom Broom Ben could hear the Engine of his mum's old car, he rushed out the door without saying a word. “ Don’t you want to come in for a cup of tea?” Asked granny. No, it's ok, said Ben's mum. They sped out of the old grey road on their way home.

16/3/21

Summary:

It was another boring day and usually on Friday, we had to go to his grandma's house. He got to his grandma's house and walked, wrote to the little room and read the magazine he brought with him from home. Ben knew that he couldn’t stay in the room all day, so he walked out to the living room and sat down. “  Scrabble time “ said grandma.  “ All right, I'm coming” said ben. After playing scrabble granny gave Ben some boiled eggs, Ben hated eggs and everytime he got an egg he would chuck them out the window when his grandma wasn’t looking.

22/3/21:

Ben had remembered that granny had a bunch of cookies that she was hiding in the top draw in the kitchen he hoped out of his chair and went over to the draw and had a little peak, there it was the tin of cookies. The tin didn’t feel usually, and it didn’t feel like cookies. Ben opened up the tin and it was filled with jewels like diamonds, rings, necklaces, bracelets and more. Ben's parents were just about to pick him up. His parents were there, but as he got into the car and drove off Ben asked, “can I please stay at grannys again?”. His parents asked why but Ben had no reason, “i'll ask granny if you can stay again”. His dad then called his grandma but then she replied with “ sorry i'm going out”.

29/3/21:

Ben had to find out more about granny and the tin. So when he got home he quickly waited until his parents were making dinner, and then it was time for him to sneak out. Ben quickly rushed out the door and jumped on to his bike and puddled as  fast as he could on his way to granny's house.

“ I need to get home before they finish making dinner and before the dancing stars finish”. He went to  granny's house and hid in the bush, she walked out of the house and jumped onto her motor scooter.

30/3/21:

Granny was going very fast and he needed to catch up before he lost sight of her.  She finally stopped, and she stopped in front of a jewelry shop which was weird.  She grabbed a rock that was in her scooter basket and broke the window and jumped through it. “ no” Ben yelled. “ Ben What are you doing here?, are you stalking me?”, “Hurry up we have to get out of here before the cameras turn off”. “ how do you know when the cameras turn on?” asked Ben. “ There is a lot you don't know about boys”.

Sheep Heart Dissection

Talofa lava guys welcome back to my blog. For today's last period we are going to be dissecting a sheep's heart. We are going to be exploring a sheep's heart, Have you ever explored or dissected a sheep's heart? Or any animal's heart?. I am really excited to do this because this is my first time seeing and dissecting a sheep's heart. The last time I got to dissect something was when we got to dissect a chicken, and that was gross but then also very interesting.

Our aim is: To explore the heart

Materials/ Method

  1. Scalpel, heart, tray, gloves, newspaper, scissors.

Findings
On the outside of the heart I found big patchs of white stuff which was fat, The fat felt rubber and hard ( To me the fat looked soft but it wasnt). When I had cut through the heart I saw lots of white things which were Tendons, And there were also lots of little rows of lines that sort of look like very thin string.

I will add a picture here tomorrw!

Summary and conclusion:
in conclusion, exploring A sheeps heart was very fun but also very gross. Since this was my first time experince I would give it a 7 out of ten. Next time I would like to get a little more time exploring the heart. Most of the things inside and outside of the heart were very intersting and very small and detailed.

Bullying - Hurumanu 5!

Hi, guys welcome back to another blog post for today I am going to be sharing some work we did in Hurumanu 5 which is health. In health, We learn about a lot of stuff like relationships, Puberty, and more. But for today I am going to be sharing some work we did base on bullying. We had to watch a couple of videos and then after that we had to write down what we go out of those videos we watched. What would you do if your friend or a stranger was getting bullied? would you help them? Or would you be a bystander and just watch them get bullied?. So are you a Bystander or an Outstander?

What I thought of the video and what I got out of the videos.

What I took from this video is that Kids get bullied in their everyday life and not only do kids get bullied but so do adults. From the first video, I watched there was a kid that had been bullied at school but what had helped them overcome their fear of people bullying him was getting into singing and rapping with his best friend that was almost like a brother to him. So basically if you are getting bullied try and do something you like doing they sport, singing, playing and instrument and more. This will help some kids or adults overcome their fear of people bullying them, And this just shows the bully that you are strong and they can’t put you down anymore.

What I got out of the second video was that kids at school are getting bullied a lot and they are often looking very sad and shy most of the time, And when kids are been bullied they don’t often tell people because they are either too shy to or they are embarrassed to tell people probably they are having at school or outside of school.

Thank you for reading my blog post.

Building shapes

 Building Shapes

Hi, guys welcome back to another blog post. For today I am going to be sharing some shapes that we have made today out of shapes. I was partner up with My friend Bailey and we worked together to make a couple shapes like a square, triangle Etc. We tried to make other shapes but that didn't really work out so we just decided to do other tricks with the strings. From today's shape making I learned that everything is not perfect and if you fail you keep trying and be resilient.

Materials:

  1. 8 feet string
  2.  2 people
  3. Scissors
I will post a picture of what I and my buddy made out of the strings soon.

Pobble - Mirrors

Hi guys welcome back to another blog post. Last week we were working on pobble writing, Pobble writing is a site that gives a person a picture and story starter and some questions they have to answer after they read the story starter. I have decided to pick a picture of a little girl looking in the mirrors on the walls. They weren't normal mirrors they were almost magical. When the girl looked into the mirrors she would find out her mood she is going to have for the day. These are the questions I had to answer, please leave a comment on what I could do better next time. Thank you.

How do the mirrors work? The mirrors on the wall are the pictures of herself each day. When she is looking at the mirror she sees a picture of her and that picture will predict what her mood would be like for the day.

How are the two mirrors different? Both mirrors have different emotions.  The first mirror is a picture of her smiling and she also looks really happy, But the other mirror looks like she is really sad and scared.

Which mirror does Claudia look in first? The mirror that she looked at first was a picture of her when she was happy.

Are the mirrors always the same? The mirrors aren't always the same every month it changes and it also depends on her mood.

Why does she ask this question each day? She asks these questions because she doesn't know where she is and why she is there.

What sort of day do you think Claudia will have? Well, it really depends on how she is feeling if she is happy she will have a good day but if she is sad she will have a bad day.

Do the mirrors change as Claudia gets older? Yes, the mirrors do change. As she gets older her mood and her actions change so the mirrors will also change.

What would happen if she didn’t look at the mirrors one day? If she didn’t look in the mirror one day she wouldn’t know or what her mood would be, And she wouldn’t know if she is growing or if her moods have changed.
