Science Equipment! Hurumanu

Science Equipment!

Hi, guys welcome back to my blog. How are you all doing today I am doing great myself. So today I am going to talk about some safety equipment that we use in Science and also some safety rules we use in the Science lab.

10 safety rules:

  1. No running in the Science lab. So you need to walk
  2. No food or drinks. Because a science Lab is not for eating.
  3. When you break something in the science lab tell the teacher straight away and then clean it up. Its good to tell the teacher so they know you broke something and then they won't balm it on someone else.
  4. Bags at the back of the classroom or under your desk so then it won't get in the way if you are doing an experiment.
  5. Listen really carefully to the instructions So you don't do something wrong and blow up the class.
  6. When doing extreme experiments make sure to were safety glasses and gloves for your own safety.
  7. Kids should not be allowed to touch any chemicals or lab equipment unless they are instructed to do so.
  8. Do not small or eat any science equipment or things
  9. Always have your hair up so it's not in the way.
  10. Always wash your hands if you have used chemicals in science.

 Equipment:

  1. Beaker
  2. Test Tubes
  3. Spatula
  4. Tongs
  5. Funnel
  6. Conical Flask
  7. Measuring cylinder
  8. Flask
  9. A test tube rack.

Art - Second creation!

Hi, guys welcome back to my blog. For the past few weeks in art, we have been making our characters for our animations. The last blog post that I made about art I showed you guys my other creation that I made, and I also mention that I was going to make another character witch was Sofie. I didn't make Sofie but I did make another character called Francis, Francis Is the bully in the animation.

Here Is Francis:

Here is Francis and also this is what I made last time in art.

What did I find hard when I made my creation?
What I found hard was when I was trying to form the shape of the body of the character and trying to see how big or small the character is going to be and also trying to see what the colour of the close was going to be.

Conclusion:
Overall I think I did pretty good on making one of the characters I found it really hard to do but I managed to do make it.

What character are you making Sh/DS?

Japanese work!

Hi guys welcome back to my blog. for the past 2 days we have been doing Japanese. So I thought I would share what we have been doing so far.

Ko n ni chi wa = Good afternoon or hello but you have to say it after 12.00PM in the afternoon.

Sa yo u na ra = Goodbye

A ri ga to u = Thank you

O ha yo u = ( Casual) Goodmorning

O ya su mi = (Casual) Goodnight

 Question we had to answer:

What is hiragana used to write?
It is used to write Japanese words.

How would you describe the shapes of hiragana characters?
Round, curly and not joined together.

How many syllables does each hiragana characters make?
2

Conclusion:
So far I think Japanese has been really fun

2040 Documentary!

Hi, guys welcome back. Today we watched a documentary called 2040. We watched this documentary with Ts, Mt, and Ds.

Here is a little blurb about it:
Award-winning director Damon Gameau embarks on a journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them into the mainstream.
Structured as a visual letter to his 4- year old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary footage with dramatized sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board for his daughter and our planet

What are the two things I learned?
I learned that every little thing can change the world and that if we keep putting our rubbish in the bin we can keep our environment clean. I also learned that the more we keep on using our environment in a bad way it's just gonna keep on getting worse and worse each time we don't look after it.

Sciences! Solar Energy Hurumanu

Hurumanu - Solar Energy

Aim: To find out which colour attracts the suns heat.

Hypothesis: I think that the black will attract more to the suns heat.

Materials:

  1. White Paper
  2. White cup
  3. Black plastic
  4. Clear plastic cup
  5. Black plastic cover
  6. Tinfoil
  7. Silver cup
  8. 100mls water
  9. Thermometer
  10. Heat lamp
Timer

Steps

  1.   Get all your materials from the teacher.
  2.  The second step to getting one of the white cups and covers it with the Tinfoil then put it on top of more tinfoil.
  3.  Third get the clear cup and cover it with the black plastic then put it on top of another black plastic.
  4.  The fourth step you don't need to do anything to the other white cup because it's already white.
  5.   Fifth, Then get the teacher to pour 100mls of water into each of your cups.
  6. Turn on your heat lamp and make sure the heat lamp is facing all the cups equal and wait for 15mins 30mins and 45mins.
  7.  After every timer goes off put the thermometer in the cups and wait for 1 minute then take the thermometer and see what temperature each water is on.
  8. The last step sees which colour does the heat attract more.

Findings:

The Tinfoil cup heated up the least. The Black cup heats up the most, but the white cup was in the middle it didn’t heat up the most or the least

Conclusion

In conclusion my findings in this experiment state that The Tinfoil cup heated up the least. The Black cup heats up the most, but the white cup was in the middle it didn’t heat up the most or the least.
So the color that attracted more to the sun's heat was the black cup.
Solar heat
Solar panels
Black plastic to heat water
In other hot countries sometimes they paint their house white so the there house is cool

What am I making?
In my group I am making Sofie witch is one you the charterers that get bulled. And I am also making the food for the cafeteria.

What am I finding challenging?
I am finding challenging that we need to make the charters small and making things stable.

Math challenge!

Hi, guys welcome back. Last week for maths our task that we had to do was write 4 questions but we had to write it as a word problem, then after our partner that our teacher picked for us had to answer the questions in the comments. My partner is Keyana.

Wood Technology creation!

Hi, guys welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to share the work that I did in wood technology. so the first thing I had to do was figure out what I was going to make I wanted to make a pineapple I thought it was going to be easy but when I really got started on it, it was like I was going to explode I was getting really frustrated on how to cut it out. It was really hard but I started to get the hang of it.

To be honest it was really fun. So it took me 12 days to finish it and It took me 2 days to paint it. The painting part we easy but also a little bit hard because some Of the colours I need they ran out of it so I had to persevere. I had to start mixing colours to be able to make the colours I need.

In the end, It was a success I managed to finish my pineapple I really like it I am really proud of my work we also had to put our creations on wheels. Here is my Pineapple.

At the moment we now making love hearts. This week Is the last week of wood tec which is really sad.

Thanks to Mr?
I would like to thank Mr Kane for teaching us in wood tec and helping us do our creations.

What did you make in wood Tec/SH and TZ?

An author Ella West came into our school!

An author Ella West came into our school!

Hi, everyone welcomes back to my blog. Today an Author Alla west came to our school to talk about her two stories that she wrote, Night vision, and The rain full. Alla West lives in Dunedin and the school paid some money for her to come in and talk to us for an Hour.

Facts about Night vision.
In Night vision Ella West put her own dog John in the story. The story Is based in Ashburton. In this story, the girl has a disease which is XP. When Ella west wrote her story the cover that her publisher used another author used it to but Ella West published her story first.

Facts about Rainfall.
The cover that the publisher used was 3 different art pieces from the internet. In the story, there is a whole chapter about how to shear a sheep. She owns the sheep farm in the story

Facts about her.

  • She aims for 1000 words per day but in her story, the maximum words she aims for is 50,000.
  • She doesn't make her cavers a publisher dose.
  • The first book she ever wrote took her 3 years to write and finish it.
  • Every book she makes takes at least 2 months.
  • She lives in Dunedin.
  • She doesn't really get that match money from her books and the government gets more money then she gets from her books.
  • She writes books because she thinks its fun and amazing to do.

Conclusion:
I like how she talked to us about her stories and didn't spoil that much, But when she told us about the stories she just told us different parts of the story.
Would you read one of these books? Which one do you like best?

Key: Water and acidity amount: 1 = none
2 = small

3 = large
First bag
  • The first bag had a large amount of water and the same amount of acid.
  • There was a lot of condensation in this bag.
Second bag
  • The second bag had a small amount of water.
  • The litmus paper that we put in the bag change colour.

Conclusion:
The normal water cycle was a success because there was an average amount of water drops.
The water cycle with the acid made the litmus paper change colours like it was supposed to.
